Okay, so I've finally finished Samantha and its script format, both of which should be floating around your inbox by the time you read this (unless you've deleted them already ). It's the first time I've ever done a movie-style script so any input is appreciated, especially given that it's for the Scripts to Flicks contest. As would probably be expected, I wrote the prose story first, then converted it to script format (or the best I could mimic using html on here).

Oh, just a warning for those who are reading this first, Samantha will, if I did it right, rip your heart out before it's done, but leave you feeling good about it when it's finished. It's meant to be a very emotional piece, so... well, you've been warned, I guess.

Any of you writers who've ever dreamed of seeing your work come to life on the screen should be working on entries. It's a contest, so there's no guarantees, of course, but it's certainly worth the shot! Better hurry, though, it ends 08/31 and has to be a new script, or unpublished here, at the least.

I'm hoping to whip up another one for the comic script category as well. That story was already written a long time ago, so part one will be easy (though I'm sure I'll need to update/edit it), but the script itself will be brand spankin' new. And if that goes really well, there's one more I'd like to throw out there for the film category. So... I'm going to be rather busy the rest of August!

Now then, that said, I thought I'd throw out a little support for the comic community around here with some new features and stuff.

I'm still awaiting my copies of the TPB collections but everything I've seen from these two has been top notch superhero awesomeness, so if their stuff grabs ya, you might want to consider checking out their shop! First was one comic by two artists, this is two comics by one. Emerald City Blues has just gone up for pre-launch orders,
so if you like seeing alternative tellings of classics (ie Wizard of Oz), you'll find this worth picking up. It won't take you long to start wondering just whose side Glinda the "good" witch is on. Personally, while I do enjoy reading ECB, 88 is more my speed. I mean... check out those mechs! Can't wait to see that one roll out in full!

For something on the more cartoony side, Pirates are always in style. This crew is absolutely bizarre, but they get the job done and they're pretty damned funny to boot.

Shadowgirls is a webcomic that I've been following for a while and highly recommend to any comic book fans. It's a sort of a mix of Lovecraftian lore and a dose of superhero action. It's been a great ride so far and they're far from done with it.


So go check them out and if you like what you see, show them some support (vocally, financially, advertisingly... whatever ).
