Literature Text

I met myself
On a dead-end street
A back-road of this thing called life
I said to myself
"I've run out of room
And don't think I can make it through."

Myself said to I
"Ain't easy, it's true
This world is a place full of strife,
But you can't give in
Just ‘cause it gets hard
There's too many counting on you."

Looked in the mirror
And in it saw me
Asked "What do you make of this mess?"
Answered with a smile
"Why do you ask me?
I'm just a reflection of you.

But if you were me
Maybe you'd see
There's something that you must confess.
You're not alone
With myself and me
What is there that we cannot do?"

I grinned at me
And then at myself
Then laughed, I had to agree
We'd work as a team
To escape the dead-end
Together we could not be stopped

What I could not
Together we could
The power of one made from three
A great brick wall
On a dead-end street
We lifted myself to the top

He reach down his arm
And gave me a hand
While I gave me a boost from behind
Both of them up
Then last came I
And they each gave a hand and a yank

I joined them now
Atop that brick wall
And true to their words I did find
That barrier wall
Was no challenge at all
And I have me and myself to thank

Wasn't sure whether to put this in philosophical or humourous, given that it kind of touches on both. Decided the primary intent was to amuse (even if only me, myself and I ;P ), so here it is.

Rhyming scheme is a little odd and I know it clunks at times, but eh... what can ya do?

I've heard this somewhere: "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on", and thought it fit perfectly with what you wrote here.
