Yar! Captain on the deck!
No, she's not one of the pirates from the last chapter of Maelstrom... she looks a far cry better than any of them! This here is Denna (pronounced Dee-na), a friend of mine out in that scary offline world. Took the photo of her striking the "Captain Morgan" pose at the Michigan Renfest a couple weeks back and just finally got around to giving her a proper setting. She looks a lot better than Morgan, too. Took a few hours 'cause I had to adjust/alter every stock I used plus add shading and stuff, but well worth it, I think. Edit: Made some adjustments to brightness levels and also added/corrected some shadows. Thanks =tannally and ~flinx for the suggestions! Even tried something with her hair to make it blend better. Stocks used: Ship (background): [link] Chest (The wooden one! Pervs.): [link] Pirate flag (in the background there!): [link] Sword: [link] Comments
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!

The greatest crime is to take it for granted." -- Me ~ I'm a Bobling... wouldn't you like to be a Bobling too? [link] I didn't even notice on the first glance it was a manip! Very good. The only thing that gives it away is her right foot, you might want to put a bit of a shadow underneath it. Her own shadow is a tad too faint, but there arent many other shadows on the ship to compare it with. I'm not sure if the chest is an original part of the picture, but its shadow is somewhat stronger than hers.

[link] I actually put the brightness down on both of them already... didn't want to do too much on her for fear of losing the skin tone to grey. Thanks for the support though, I've never really done this extensive of a manip before. Light sources are a pain!

I don't know how I managed to miss it
The lightning is the hardest, but it's one of the most important things in any picture, because it's responsible for the illusion of 3D... You're quite lucky with this picture that it doesn't have strong light/shadow, I was working on a manip (that would probably never be finished since Photoshop corrupted the file after hours and hours of work I've just noticed on the picture that there are two little steps (how do you say that properly in English?) right behind her left arm that has the shadow falling to the left, but the chest and the model have shadows falling to the right. It's not a big deal though, since it's not so noticeable. Also, there should be some shadows falling on her from the ropes, if you want to keep the shadows falling to the right, and if you want to be really really nit-picky The rest of the picture looks great, the transition is done nicely, except maybe for the hair, but the hair is quite impossible to do properly. All in all, damn good job -- Hi, my name is Tanna and I'm an emotoholic... |
